Home Affairs Minister Syed Hamid Albar said a previous Feb. 16 decree that allowed Christian publications to use the word as long as they specified the material was not for Muslims was a mistake, the national Bernama news agency reported. The about-turn came after Islamic groups slammed the government and warned that even conditional use of the word by Christians would anger Muslims, who make up the country's majority. A senior ministry official confirmed Syed Hamid's comments, saying there were "interpretation mistakes" in the Feb. 16 decree that led to the confusion. "'Allah' cannot be used for other religions except Islam because it might confuse Muslims. This is the ministry's stand and it hasn't changed," the official, who declined to be named citing protocol, told The Associated Press.Allah vs. YHWHIn his book, ‘Making Christology Relevant to the Third World’, published in 1998, Daniel Lukito reveals that theological developments in Bible Colleges in Asia deem it prudent for potential converts from Hinduism, Buddhism, etc, to retain their original religions after accepting Christian salvation, in order not to destroy the culture aligned with those beliefs. The Indonesian Constitution reads: “The State shall be based on the belief in the one and only God”. It is worth observing that the Indonesian Bibles are using the Arabic term Allah in place of the Hebrew Elohim in order not too offend the Muslims, which represent the dominant religion – Islam. Yet, the Indonesian language DOES have a word for the generic term ‘god’ - namely ‘Tuhan’! What the Associated Press articles highlights is the reality that Christians and Muslims DO NOT share the same view concerning the identities of the God of the Bible and Allah.Christians need to become a lot wiser than they are now, if Islam is not going to win this battle.More.....Will Christians ever learn to be true to the Bible, or will they forever continue to seek to please the prevailing World opinion of their ‘Host Nation’? October 30, 2009 At the risk of boring our readers we kept the above article although its apparent use-by dat seems long expired. Not in the economy of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob! Here we have the confirmation - by deed - that the Islamic Allah is not the Creator of the Bible. For many years we have taught that the Evangelist who work in these areas are in error by calling the Deity of the Bible Allah, when his name is given to us in the unpronouncable Tetragrammaton, often transliterated as YHWH. When will Christians wake up to the fact that the Muslims AIN’T interested in our way of playing ball. The Muslims have clearly demonstrated by this move that they do not want the name of their demon misused by the ‘infidels’. Well, we consider it blasphemy to put the name Allah into the Bible in place of ???? Christians when will you accept (if not from the Muslims, then from whom) that Allah is NOT another word for God, but it is a proper name.Is it not enough that Muslims have put Christians to shame over their lax attitude toward God. Is there relly no end to thsi spiritual and moral ineptitude by the Christian Church wherever it may be? Shame on you for putting the name Allah into the Bible in the first place!
