The Negev is the Southland of Israel and is both historically and strategically important to the nation. The Negev is also the
northern part of the Sinai Desert and most likely the vicinity of the 38 year sojourn of the Children of Israel.
The Negev is now the focal point of the Israeli government concerning future development of towns and cities to overcome
an acute housing shortage in the northern part of Israel. Strategically the Negev is important as a buffer against enemy
attacks and holds some significant military positions.
The Negev also holds the Ramon Crater, one of the largest of its kind in the world.
